What’s Pressing This Week
Another week of adapting and overcoming for businesses, brands and banana bread bakers around the world. This week we saw some creative digital adaptations of would-be experiential campaigns or live events. As well as campaigns, digital platforms are also adapting to suit both business and consumer needs during COVID-19, Instagram have lead the way with a new method of supporting businesses within the app. Instagram users are adapting too with their indoor-only posting; even travel photographers.
There’s no stopping the ‘quarantunes’ in Ireland. To finish off we have a mammoth video production from Conor Crummey in collaboration with some of Ireland’s best trad musicians. To sum up, here’s what’s pressing this week.

Secret Cinema have teamed up with Häagen-Dazs to bring small moments of joy to people at home and we love their immersive storytelling approach. At the heart of Secret Cinema’s experiences is audience participation and groups of strangers coming together to experience film and culture in new and interesting ways and that is what they are looking to achieve here in their new adaptation – “Secret Sofa”.
Everybody has access to live streaming so we feel simply just doing that is easy; we are loving the brands that are willing to push the boundaries whilst remaining true to strong to their core values.

Vita Con Stile – Houses of Peroni
What better way to relax and enjoy a Thursday evening than bringing some beautiful Italian lifestyle directly into your own home? Last week, Peroni Nastro Azzurro launched Houses of Peroni – a series of live events (via Instagram) from the homes of their closest collaborators.
Week 1 was delivered by master bartender Simone Caporale who brought viewers through the Italian Art of the Aperitivo – a moment to disconnect and dedicate a small time to yourself and your appetite. In the current circumstances, it’s safe to say we drank to that!
From drinks to design, the journey will continue each Thursday (6pm BST) to elevate your time spent at home through Italian experiences. We miss the House of Peroni, but we can’t wait to see who’s Home is up next.

Instagram Gift Card Stickers
Gift cards have been noted as a perfect solution to supporting your favourite businesses during COVID-19, even if they are unable to operate at this time. Instagram listened to this and have implemented a new feature making it possible to purchase gift voucher without leaving the app. Similarly to the newly introduced Instagram shopping, feature is available to business and creator accounts who can link their e-commerce store to the sticker.
Making it even slightly easier to support small businesses will make a big difference. We think this is a highly effective and welcomed feature from IG.

Travel photographer @ErinOutdoors adapted to being stuck indoors by creating these mini photography scenes using household items. Her tiny stick figures were lucky enough to do some quarantine exploring through pancake mountains and brocolli forests.

Bringing Delight to Hand Sanitising at Events and Venues.
Over recent weeks we have had the opportunity to sit back and analayse the future of the experiences that we offer to our clients. As part of this evaluation, we had been examining the touchpoint of hand sanitizing at events in great detail. It immediately jumped out to us that in our industry, this is currently a ritual that is either unaesthetic or not functional (often both) with little to no strategy or design time put behind it. Since then, we have been exploring solutions that we feel can challenge and rethink hand sanitistaion in the events world to make it more imaginative and inspiring with the overall aim of having a powerful impact on society. All of this was prior to discovering the incentive below, so you can imagine how happy we were when we stumbled across it.It is the belief of design agency, Bompas and Parr, that designers will play an important role in shaping the future of our collective safety. We have been keeping a close eye on their “Fountain of Design” competition, which is calling on creatives and those with a good idea to design inspired takes on the sanitser pumps and hand washing rituals being implemented and explored across the globe. We’ll keep an eye on the entries and share some of our favourites next week.
The competition inpired us to get involved and try our (heavily sanitised) hands at the design process with some quick sketches. We put a sanitising twist on two items we come across frequently through our work – a pot still and a Nike running shoe, reimagined as small sanitiser dispensers!
Remote group performances have been impressing us all through quarantine, but Cormac Crummey and co have raised the bar to a new level. This mammoth musical & video creation has over 120,000 views on Facebook to date. This is a top notch group effort and quarantine did not stop them from achieving superb audio and video quality. Simply a must watch.
